The Crow’s Nest: Los Angeles, CA
During our visit to Los Angeles, Matt and I stayed in quite possibly the cutest Airbnb I've ever seen. Having noticed it on a couple of "where to stay in LA" lists, I was relieved to find that it was available for our visit! We did book pretty far in advance and given the glowing reviews, that is definitely advisable.
Located north east in the Highland Park corner of the city, we were initially a bit worried we might be too far away from the action. However, instead we found an oasis of calm in an otherwise busy city! Small and compact, the space had everything we needed for a lovely stay.
Described as an "urban cabin", we were amazed at how well designed and decorated it was. The space is located in the backyard of the host's house with its own entrance so it was completely private. It had everything we needed including a kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, toaster oven and two burners. As an added bonus, the hosts had left lots of snacks and other items in the kitchen cupboards so if you did want to cook, you had the base ingredients.
As an added bonus, we found that the space also had a vintage record player (which obviously caught Matt's attention straight away!). The notes from the host were very clear: the music is there to be enjoyed so really was a must.
What really sold me on booking this Airbnb was the view! Listed as a "240 degree view of rolling hills and the San Gabriel mountains", we were completely thrilled to find this wasn't an exaggeration. Additionally, the view can be enjoyed not only from the wrap around windows but also from the private deck space adjacent to the cabin.
There was a picnic table with two benches, a small table and chairs, and even a fire pit - which created a perfect little hideaway to relax and watch the world go by. It was surprisingly quiet too considering the house is only three blocks away from York Boulevard, where there were lots of restaurants, bars and shops.
If we were to visit LA again, I would definitely try to stay in this lovely Airbnb. We really can't recommend it enough! There was even free parking on the street in front of the house so it really couldn't have been easier. Lisa and Aaron (our hosts) were brilliant from the initial booking all the way through to our stay - with lots of recommendations and advice for two first time visitors.
